久しぶりになってしまった...最近バタバタする日が続いて、まともにパソコンの前で力む時間が持てていなかった。
そういえば先日誕生日を迎えまして。歳をとるにつれて、年齢が増えるという実感がどんどんなくなっていく気がする。 小さい頃の誕生日は、絶対に家族で過ごして、絶対に蝋燭付きホールケーキがあって、絶対に夕飯が少し贅沢な感じで・・・ と、そういう思い出が強いからなのかもしれないけど。1年あっという間ですね。ということで、今回はさっくり本の紹介だけして終わろうと思う。

1ヶ月くらい前にICAの本屋で本を2冊買ったので、そのうちの1冊について。
出版はHayward Galleryで、計80ページとかなり軽めの本。 しかもかなりの量が作品やアーティストについての写真付きのページとなっていて（ざっと30作品以上）、読む量は少ない。 内容は、タイトルからも分かる通り「紙」について。作品という点において、コラージュや2Dの作品だけではなく立体的な3Dまで紙の汎用性は幅広く、何百年も前から人とともに歴史を歩んできた。 という前提から、「紙」で作られた作品の紹介や、紙そのものについて改めて焦点を当てている。 そこから派生して、紙がただの材料としてではなくアーティストにとって欠かせない表現そのものであるという側面があるとも紹介されている。紹介されている作品達もユニークで面白く、私が特に気に入ったのは、「ケープ」というゲレス・ジョーンズの作品。

It's been a while to be able to have some time even just to sit down being in front of my pc.
I had my birthday a few days ago by the way. The older I get, the less I feel I'm getting old. When I was a kid, I would definitely spend my birthday with my family, having such a big birthday cake with candles, and dinner would be always a bit fancier than usual, which I loved. Maybe I'm feeling so just because of this kind of memories. Time flies so fast. Anyways I'm going to introduce a book and finish this quickly.

It's about one of the books I bought in ICA bookshop around a month ago.
This is from Hayward Gallery Publishing, and has only approximately 80 pages which is relatively light. In addition, many of the pages are about artworks and artists with pictures (around 30 works in total) so the actual amount you read is kind of small.
The book is of course about artworks related to paper as you can tell from the title of it. Paper has a high versatility even in terms of artwork, from collage and 2d to 3d work, and has developed together with human beings for long. It's also focused on 'paper' itself not only as a medium but also as the very matter of their art. The art pieces in this book are unique as well, and my favorite is especially 'Cape' by Gereth Jones.
